Wash and Go’s can be one of the quickest and easiest hairstyles to define your curls, but only if you use the right products. Moisture is KEY to getting the results you want. Without a moisturizing product your “Wash and Go” could turn into a “wash and take 2 hours to detangle and define”. But never fear, follow these 6 steps to achieve the instagram-ready curls you see above.
1. Shampoo
For the perfect wash and go results, we always recommend shampooing hair first to begin your style on clean and refreshed hair. Our Hydrating Sulfate Free Avocado Shampoo rinses away any product buildup, dirt, and oil without any harsh sulfates. Avocado also offers proteins which keeps your hair strong and healthy, the key to any great style!
2. Deep Condition
This step was done off camera, but your hair can still benefit from a deep conditioning treatment. Choose the Dry Solution Fresh Frozé Treatment Deep Conditioner and apply it to your hair. This will pack in nutrients that will help your curl pattern shine through after washing.
Note: Our deep conditioners are so fresh that you will have to store them in the freezer! Be sure to thaw before use.
Section your hair and thoroughly coat your hair strands with the deep conditioner. Our stylist used a detangling brush, but you can use a comb or even rake the product though with your hands. Once your entire head is coated, place a plastic cap (or a plastic bag) on your head and let the product sit for 20-30 minutes so that all of the ingredients can soak into your hair and really penetrate your strands. They’ll be sure to thank you later!
Note: We always recommend adding heat via a hooded dryer, steamer, or deep conditioning cap for deeper product penetration.
Rinse and you’re ready to begin styling!
3. Moisturizer
Apply our Thirst Quenching Avocado Hair Moisturizer which provides you with soft hair, and gentle hold on your curls. The blend of moisturizing oils and all natural holding properties is the perfect way to hydrate your hair while priming your coils for a wash and go. Apply a dime size amount section by section to ensure even coverage throughout your entire head.
4. Avocado Curl Custard
Our Avocado Curl Custard is perfect for achieving that carefree and bouncy wash and go look we love. It has a lightweight formula with a medium hold that keeps your curls defined yet soft to the touch.
Apply our custard to your hair while it’s still damp, and be sure to smooth it through the hair, stretching the strands with your hands or a comb, and gently releasing them so that they spring into place. This technique will allow your hair to be uniformly coated and defined so your curls really pop.
Once you’ve applied the custard throughout your entire head, air dry your hair throughout the day or sit under a hooded dryer for 30-45 minutes. When your hair is mostly dry, you can fluff or pick your curls to add more volume and achieve your desired shape.
5. Avocado Oil
Our Avocado Kiwi Oil Blend is the perfect final step in your styling routine! Pour a dime size amount into your hands, and massage the oil into your hair. In our video, the stylist opted to scrunch the hair to help volumize and coat in one step. The Pure Avocado Oil will seal in moisture, smooth down any flyaway hairs, and add long lasting shine.
