HELP! Which NaturAll Club Products Should I Use? - Part 1

Whether you are a new Natural, or you've been natural your whole life, sometimes it feels like you're just not using the right products. Maybe that shampoo leaves your hair feeling stripped, even though your hair will feel greasy again a week later. Maybe you're not getting enough slip out of your deep conditioner. Maybe that leave-in leaves-you wanting something more.

Depending on your curl pattern, your porosity, and even your lifestyle, you need a unique set of products that will work for your curls and coils. To help you along your path towards your hair goals, we have created a hair product cheat sheet for you! Get ready for the ultimate guide to natural hair products, as well as the best order to use them in.

Wash Day

Let’s start with the base of wash day: no matter your curl pattern, you need a shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner. If you have type 3 or type 4 hair, we recommend NaturAll's Hydrating Avocado Kiwi Shampoo and Hydrating Avocado Kiwi Conditioner. This pair will leave your curls clean, refreshed and moisturized.

While the Shampoo works to strip away dirt and product buildup in your hair, the Hydrating Avocado Conditioner uses a combination of natural oils and active ingredients to promote a soft, moisturized mane! A Deep Conditioner will give your wash day the final kick of moisture and nutrients with the power of fresh fruit and natural oils, leaving your curls soft, detangled, and shiny for days.

It can be more tricky to pick the right deep conditioner for your hair. Do you have dry hair that constantly needs moisture? Try this Avocado-Lavender Deep Conditioner designed for dry hair. Is your hair suffering from color damage, heat damage, or high porosity? This Wheat and Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner might be right for you. Or are you experiencing thinning hair, shedding, and thin edges? Try this Strengthening Deep Conditioner with Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Carrot. If you don't have any of these hair problems and you're just looking for a deep conditioner that will really help your curls pop, give this Curl Defining Acai and Flaxseed Deep Conditioner a spin.

Protein Sensitivity

When choosing a deep conditioner, you need to factor in whether you’re protein sensitive or not (and if you’re not sure, check out this blog on protein sensitivity!). If you are sensitive to protein, NaturAll's Dull Solution may be the way to go, it contains the least amount of protein while still giving your hair strength and shine.

If you are not protein sensitive, the next thing you want to think about is if you have ever experienced heat damage, color treatment, relaxing, or any other type of damage to your hair. If you have, this Wheat and Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner is made to revive damaged hair with moisture and nutrients, allowing it to grow healthier and stronger. This product is also a great option for anyone with dandruff, alopecia, or hair loss!

If you are not protein sensitive and have not experienced any type of hair damage, a great option for hair maintenance is the Avocado Kiwi Hydrating Deep Conditioner. This product is great for all hair types and porosities, so you can't go wrong.

Porosity

Porosity is a measurement of your hair’s ability to absorb and hold moisture. The higher your porosity, the more often you will need to really penetrate your hair follicles and moisturize your hair. High porosity naturals might be interested in buying larger quantities of moisturizing products, since you're likely to use them up faster. Make sure to take your hair length into account as well when making your final decision!

Styling Products

Now that your hair is clean and damp, it’s time to jump right into styling! It can be overwhelming to choose between all the different hair gels, creams, custards, and stylers out there.

The best way to start is to know your hair thickness and density. Naturals with really thick, dense, and coily hair will have more styling success with a thick product, like this Twisting Paste. Perfect for twist-outs, braid-outs, or retwisting your locs, this is a thick styler with a lot of hold.

If you have less dense hair, type 3 curls, or if you're just looking for a product with less hold, you still have lots of options. This Avocado Curl Custard is perfect for defining curls in a simple wash-n-go on 3B, 3C, or 4A curls, and if you want even less hold, this 3-in-1 Moisturizer and Styling Cream can just tame frizz and give you some definition without putting much work in. Plus, it keeps your hair moisturized throughout the day.

At NaturAll, we create and elevate clean haircare and beauty standards, providing freshly-made products that are better for you and your hair. Sourced from small farmers in Jamaica and Ghana. We source ingredients directly from small farmers in Jamaica and Ghana, so we always know how our ingredients are sourced and exactly who is being supported by our business. We are proud to support Black farmers and small businesses around the world. We believe that what goes on your body is as important as what goes in it. Too many hair products are made with synthetic ingredients that are irritating, damaging, or even hazardous, and the problem is worse in hair products marketed to Black women.
